Our Mission
At Ekal Nari Shakt Sangathan, our mission is championing the rights of Single Women to ensure their representation in government policies, budget and welfare schemes. We strive to empower those we serve to achieve self-sufficiency and improve their overall quality of life.
Our History
Ekal Nari Shakti Sangathan (ENSS) emerged in 2005 under the leadership of SUTRA, with Nirmal Chandel at the helm. The organization took a significant step in 2008 when Nirmal Chandel led a group of 26000+ widows, divorcees, and single women, including those aged 70-80, on a transformative journey covering 45 kilometers over three days to Himachal Pradesh state headquarters in Shimla. Their purpose was to advocate for the constitutional/legal rights of single women.
This impactful initiative not only infused a newfound confidence in single women to champion their dignity and rights but also sent ripples through the established order. The march's resonance was profound, compelling political and institutional leadership in Himachal Pradesh not only to recognize but also to address the challenges faced by single women in accessing social protection schemes.
Today, ENSS stands tall with a membership exceeding 17,000 members across Himachal Pradesh. It serves as a guiding force in addressing issues pertinent to single women, offering support and advocacy to empower them on their journey towards a brighter future community, while remaining true to our core values of dignity, compassion, respect, and integrity.

We offer a wide range of programmes and services to support individuals and families in need. From Mental Health Awareness, Food Assistance to training, we are committed to helping those we serve achieve their goals and improve Single Women lives.
